The Great Gatsby! One of the most tragic love stories of American literature comes to life on film. This is a story of a man, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his never dying love of a woman named Daisy (Carey Mulligan), who is too weak to commit to him. Ultimately the thing that drives him causes his undoing. At first the movie is over saturated with poetic language. It gets irritating trying to decipher what the characters are saying. But the visual teasing of the film keeps the interest intact. As the movie progresses to the meat of the story along with its stellar visual effects, it’s as if you’re watching art in motion. The epic party at Gatsby is the cherry on top. DiCaprio embodies the character, bringing him to life. The music from modern artist laced throughout the film brings it up to date but is too light to make an impact. Even though the dialogue can at times be over the top and exhausting, the film as a whole is amazing.
